Yep, I’m frustrated. Very frustrated. However, looking at this article, the amount of debt that I will have to tackle after graduation is nothing compared to the debt of other students (and former students) showcased in this article.
In addition, the job search has provided to be even more frustrating. The amount of entry-level positions within mass media industries is dismal, especially when looking at coming home for a year and trying to saving up before making The Great Migration.
Thoughts?

My friend Mike who is studying abroad in London right now brought this article to my attention today. Apparently, members of a predominantly white fraternity at UC-San Diego mocked Black History Month by inviting students to a themed party called “The Compton Cookout,” where partygoers were encouraged to “wear chains, don cheap clothes and speak very loudly” amongst even more derogatory actions.
The sad thing is, this same party could very well happen at UW-Madison (if it hasn’t already).
When events like these are brought to light in the media, many people publicly raise up their hands and ask “How could this happen in 2010?!” The truth is that students of color attending predominantly white universities (including myself) hear and see stuff like this a lot. It’s sad, it’s disgusting, and it’s part of the whole getting it mentality that many non-minority students lack in understanding “the struggle.”
To all of my brothers and sisters out in San Diego, stay strong. Keep your eyes focused on attaining that degree.

When I heard that another show was set to premiere on Valentine’s Day about a group of twenty-somethings trying to “make it” in New York, I shrugged it off. When I found out this show was made for HBO, I immediately reconsidered.
